CUBAN TRIP
(More Pictures and Audio To Come)

Sapo Guapo band members JB Ramirez, Mike Cherry, Adam Jenkins and Gustavo Farfan recently returned from Cuba where they were on an extensive Musicological Journey. They would like to thank Rick Muniz and Leslie Balog from Global Exchange and ICAP (The Institute for the Friendship with Cuban People) for putting the program together, it was a dream come true for those who went.

Sapo Guapo members were once again treated to a live performance in the home of Pedro Luis Ferrer, who was accompanied by his daughter Lena Ferrer on Vocals, and Cajon (a Peruvian Box used as a percussion instrument), Larlys Morales Fernandez on vocals and guitar, Basilio Perodin on Marimbula (a finger bass box with keys that can be tuned), Clave, Bongo's and Cowbell. All played simultaneously. Pedro Luis Ferrer played Tres, Guitar and sang lead vocals. Pedro's melodic voice along with the harmonies of Lena and Larlys and the rhythms of Basilio are truly captivating and lifted our spirits and opened our souls to a taste of Cuba we will cherish Por Siempre (Forever). Last year, Pedro was working on releasing a new CD which has since been released. It's called Rustico and was released in March of 2005. Hear clips from and purchase his new CD at rockpaperscissors.biz.
